Simplify your vehicle inspections
The driver completes the inspection on their phone, defects go straight to the shop, and the history stays searchable vehicle by vehicle.
DVIR, daily trip inspection: what are we talking about?
DVIR is the American term: Driver Vehicle Inspection Report, framed by US federal transport regulation. In Canada the equivalent falls under the National Safety Code and provincial regulations, known as the daily trip inspection or, in Quebec, the ronde de sécurité. Exact obligations depend on the province, the vehicle type and the type of operation.
Tralogit provides the capture and retention tool. It does not determine which obligations apply to your operation: that question belongs to your provincial regulation and, where needed, your compliance advisor.
The problem with the paper book
- The report stays in the cab
- A reported defect never reaches the shop
- Illegible writing or boxes ticked on autopilot
- No timestamped proof
- History impossible to review per vehicle
- Sheets missing at inspection time
Inspection on mobile
The driver opens the inspection in the app, works through the checklist and reports what is wrong. Each defect can be documented with a photo, which removes the back-and-forth about what the problem actually is.
- Customisable checklist
- Major or minor defect
- Photo of the defect
- Free-text comment
- Driver signature
- Timestamp and vehicle attached
From reported defect to work order
This is where a digital inspection actually changes something. A reported defect does not merely exist inside a form: it becomes a visible task on the shop side, with a status and a correction date. The next report shows whether the item was handled or whether it is back for a third straight week.
A history that holds up
Reports stay attached to the vehicle and searchable by date. At an inspection, after an incident or in a dispute, the history shows what was inspected, when, by whom, and what was corrected. The book left in the glovebox never can.
